Only Revolutions
03:43
|
|
||
under a tomb stone sky there’s a fallen cross
next to a black rock that sits in a yard surrounded by trees
and off in the distance a dog’s bark keeps time
while the cold wind whispers through the dried out leaves
and safe in the house a mother tells her child
that our worth corresponds with all the deeds we’ve done
and that scares him to death
so he waits by the window wondering
if heaven’s got a place reserved just for him
Oh, we’ve all been waiting for the right way,
in the right time
to find out what we’re missing
are we just blowing away with the sands of time?
is there something we’re all missing?
Now the yards bathed in light, the boy sits out
upon the rock as he wonders if the trees can really see,
when the sun hits his eyes he squints and speaks:
“oh what a world this could be, if we only tried”
A hawk cries out from over head
to the field mouse below. “soon you’ll be dead”
and so it goes, it goes, it goes
it’s only revolutions, soon we’ll see
that I give to you, you give to me
and on it goes
Oh, I feel like this place is all I have
to take me home.
take me.

The Storm
03:07
|
|
||
The rain came in today, fast and sure
covering the sky with clouds.
Darkening the eyes of my brothers,
oh how will we weather this storm?
‘cause we’ve got no where to go
and the winds are starting to blow,
shaking the leaves from their home
don’t you worry about a thing my friends,
though the days are dark and the winds are changing fast
soon enough the stars will shine and we’ll be staring at the moon
in time we’ll be safe and sound once again
we’ll be safe and sound once again
the storm is growing fierce
under branches with fear we tremble.
flashes of light cutting through the sky.
the rabbits retreat to their burrows,
and the foxes to their dens,
fearing above all else for their lives
while they hide out in their holes
the wind continues to blow
chasing the leaves to and fro
don’t you worry about a thing my friends,
though the days are dark and the winds are changing fast
soon enough the stars will shine and we’ll be staring at the moon
in time we’ll be safe and sound once again
we’ll be safe and sound once again

Radio Songs
03:57

|

you know, you’ve always been my only vice
and you’ve made it very clear that he was yours
if you won’t fear before the sight of god
fear before the words spilled from my lips
you were everything i’d never admit
i needed you like a sail needs the wind
the radio is singing songs of love
but i cant seem to find the joy they bring
without you here to help me sing
we were screaming from the mountains
making all the earth shake
the love we had, no one could ever take
though our eyes were wide
before us, life’s uncertainty was laid
you know, I never thought I’d be afraid
all those nights spent wide awake
talking to the stars
all your fathers phone calls that we ignored
you know, nothing ever mattered quite as much as you to me
I’d do anything to make you smile
the radio is singing songs of love
but I can’t seem to find the joy they bring
without you here beside me
the radio is singing songs of love
but I can’t seem to find the joy we had
without you here beside me to hold my hand

Asleep In The Reeds
04:33
|
|
||
I’ve been waiting for this skin to release me,
it’s needy hands clutching to my bones
my heart speaks; this is not my home
separate skin from bone
like breeze kissed leaves, I sway as
the river and the willow exchange hushed words
of the sun, descending from his tower
to sleep in the reeds where I lay
I’ve forgotten what it tastes like, forgotten
what it feels like, the sound of my voice
when it crashes as waves upon your neck
We’ll burn as we go back home
to the reeds where I lay
where I wait for the suns warmth
to grace my face

The Nature Of Impact
02:54
|
|
||
can you please just stay with me
‘till i can close my eyes?
keep the world outside
I know a safe place, we can hide,
just you and i
until the mornings light
when will I wake up from this dream?
I know there’s no such thing as safety
will these walls just fall away
when I close my eyes?
feel the crushing tide
eclipse our bodies and dissipate
in a flash of white
just you and i
how can I escape from this place?
I know there’s nothing left but to brace myself
for the rocks below
I’ve never seen the world from this angle
I’ve never fallen from these heights before
there’s so little I’ve left behind
for this world of rot and rust to behold
so brace yourself
we’re not going home

Suspended In Flight
08:42
|
|
||
I was talking with a man whose eyes were hollow
as he danced through the shadows, he beckoned me to follow
so I ran with him all through the night
like birds of a feather, suspended in flight
waiting on the dawn to come and wake me
When you call her name do you expect an answer?
hushed voices float, like wind in the rafters,
the blue bird’s singing all alone to the crow
and the little brown rabbit’s asleep in the snow,
waiting for the spring to come and wake him
As she stepped into the light
the darkness fled, before her quiet feet
and there the wolves wait for her,
salivating and gnashing their crooked teeth,
watching as she ascends into the sky
as she disappeared in the clouds
the wolves did cry and howl until the dawn;
now their tears flood the banks
drowning themselves beneath those crooked trees,
wishing that she’d never even been
(I-84):
Waiting on the side of the road
somewhere in Connecticut
waiting for the tow truck to come
well you know I'm far from home
and I don't wanna be so cold
baby take me home
