Suspended In Flight

from Swingin' At The Wind EP by Andrew Kavanagh

/

lyrics

I was talking with a man whose eyes were hollow
as he danced through the shadows, he beckoned me to follow
so I ran with him all through the night
like birds of a feather, suspended in flight
waiting on the dawn to come and wake me

When you call her name do you expect an answer?
hushed voices float, like wind in the rafters,
the blue bird’s singing all alone to the crow
and the little brown rabbit’s asleep in the snow,
waiting for the spring to come and wake him

As she stepped into the light
the darkness fled, before her quiet feet
and there the wolves wait for her,
salivating and gnashing their crooked teeth,
watching as she ascends into the sky

as she disappeared in the clouds
the wolves did cry and howl until the dawn;
now their tears flood the banks
drowning themselves beneath those crooked trees,
wishing that she’d never even been

(I-84):
Waiting on the side of the road
somewhere in Connecticut
waiting for the tow truck to come
well you know I'm far from home
and I don't wanna be so cold
baby take me home
